Hope Movement is an organisation focused on sharing hope through a community of people. It provides encouragement, information and conversation, equipping people to seek further help if needed for issues surrounding mental health, self worth and community.


+ Who founded Hope Movement?

Hope Movement was officially created in 2012 by a group of young adults local to Geelong. It was formed after observing a lack of knowledge within the region of how and where to seek assistance for varying and complex life shaping issues.


+ Why is the organisation named Hope Movement?

The name ‘Hope Movement’ was chosen as it reflects the desire of the organisation to create a culture where it is customary and acceptable for people to recognise their struggles and seek help in this. Consequentially, Hope Movement desire to create an ever expanding culture of hope and purpose among all people, everywhere.


+ Why is the symbol for Hope Movement an anchor?

The symbol for Hope Movement is an anchor as described in Hebrews 6:19. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” (NIV)

Hope Movement believes that the anchor for all hope is through a faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.


+ Why is the slogan of Hope Movement “You are not alone. Tomorrow can be better. Hope is here.”

“You are not alone.” Hope Movement recognises that an individual needs to feel supported in order to seek help. Hope Movement exists to remind every person that they are valued and that many others have experienced the same physical, emotional, mental and spiritual issues that they are currently feeling.

“Tomorrow can be better.” Hope Movement not only recognises the pain people experience but also believes that it is possible for individuals to seek help with their struggles resulting in a more positive future.

"Hope is here.” Hope Movement desires that individuals know that help is available to them irrespective of their present situation. This help can be accessed through Hope Movement's service directory ( 'find help' page). The christian faith Hope Movement is founded upon also emphasises that this hope is now available through Jesus Christ.


+ Is Hope Movement affiliated with any institutions?

Hope Movement was founded independently of any organisation. However the founding group do belong to varying churches in the Geelong area. It accepts the Biblical world view, however does not enforce this on the public. While Hope Movement’s compassion and love for the public are rooted in the Christian faith they act independently of all political viewpoints in order to provide the public with quick and efficient access to the resources they need. Hope Movement is currently sponsored, and is seeking sponsorship, by organisations that desire to support people in the Geelong region.


+ How is Hope Movement funded?

Hope Movement is currently funded through donations given by the public. All donations are used to promote Hope Movement and thus create an awareness of the resources available in regions around Australia, equipping people to seek help and therefore live a more fulfilling life.

It was therefore decided that the most effective medium of reaching people was to provide them with the information in an entertaining, relatable but also reliable manner.
