You Will See The Morning

You Will See The Morning

For the past six years, Hope Movement has been spreading the message that

‘You are not alone. Tomorrow Can be Better. Hope is here.’

This World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD), we want people to know that hope is available, no matter what they may be experiencing.  That is why we are excited to bring you,

‘You Will See The Morning’.

From September 10th- September 15th, this campaign is a chance for you to take part in the conversation around suicide prevention, and share what it means to you and your community.

At Hope Movement, we know that the most difficult times of life are the darkest, and they can seem lonely and never ending. But we also believe that, just as the darkness always turns to light, the long nights will pass and morning will come.

With this is the promise of recovery and new life.

Every forty seconds, one person dies by suicide around the globe.

Every year, that accumulates to close to 800,000 deaths.

In fact, in Australia, suicide is the foremost cause of death for those aged 15-44.

Each day, 8 lives are lost to suicide, resulting in more than 3,000 Australians dying by this every year.

But we know that people are more than statistics.  Each number signifies someone’s brother or sister, mother or father, daughter or son, friend or partner. And when a person ends their life, it impacts their community, because every individual makes a difference in this world.

Suicide is preventable and we have the power to change these statistics.

This week it is our hope that you will be encouraged to ask for help and begin this conversation with your friends and family.

Will you join us?

Over the next few days, we will be sharing more blogs around the theme of ‘You Will See the Morning’. At the end of each we will mention ways you can participate during the week . We are asking you to choose one each day, so you can partner with us as we honour those who have gone, and seek to remind each other that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Together, we will see the morning.

Rachel
